Unlike larger organisations that have the luxury of
distinctive departments and functions; owners of Small to
Medium Enterprise (SME) have to be
multifunctional...you're the Sales Director one minute; the
Human Resources the next and the Production Manager in
between!
Affording highly paid executives in a full time capacity
(and/or non executive Directors) is fraught with risk,

The company is run by Steve and Sue Roberts. Steve and Sue
met one another back in 1989 when they both worked for a
computer hardware manufacturer; Steve was the rookie
salesman; Sue the sales administrator. Over the years, they
both carved out successful careers in sales and marketing;
helping many organisations to generate £millions in revenues
and profits. Typical of these organisation was their
reliance on individuals to make a real impact; many of these
organisations had the philosophy that you either sank or
swam...thankfully neither of them drowned!
It was in the late 90's that they both realised that the
organisations they worked for were benefiting from their
experience (and some may argue, expertise!) disproportionately
for what they were remunerated...in other words they both
decided they wanted to become masters of their own destiny (for
both of them, this is a philosophy for life; self reliance with
honesty is how Steve and Sue live their lives).
Like many Entrepreneurs; they have made mistakes (some more
costly than others!); however from each mistake made, they
gained knowledge and experience so as not to repeat the same
mistake twice (as Steve says 'all entrepreneurs make
mistakes...a fool makes the same mistake twice and an
Entrepreneur is not a fool!'). Now Sue has a thriving design
business (Fripp Design)
which Steve is actively involved with.
So why
channels4profit? Steve is always looking for new challenges
and Sue has the capacity to help. His view of professional life
is to get involved with a project, deliver it and move onto the
next challenge. For the past three years his focus has been on
Fripp Design (Sue is
the majority shareholder in this business) and the company is
developing new products for the healthcare sector.
His expertise is know longer required on a day to day basis
(this is polite for 'he's bored') and Steve is now looking for
new challenges.
