Case Study Alertsoft

Sheffield based Alertsoft specialise in fraud detection at the point of sale; linking digital IP cameras (Digital CCTV) to cash registers allowing retailers to catch staff and customers stealing from them. This is a massive problem that needed to be solved. It is estimated that over £1 billion pound a year is lost through this type of theft.

Steve Roberts (channels4profit partner) was a founding shareholder and Director of the company (even the name was Steve's idea). His involvement was to manage the whole product development with the software and hardware design team and establish the product suite to market. 18 months from its inception, the company signed up the UK's largest distributor of cash registers. Steve also helped raise a six figure investment from private investors to help accelerate the company's entry to market.

Today the company has relationships with many of the major suppliers of ePOS systems (including Sony and Panasonic). although no longer on the board (his job is now done); Steve is still an active and supportive shareholder.
